Multiple recent studies have shown a proven relationship between the extent to which board and superintendent leadership are functional and the degree to which children in the school district are successful learners. It is more critical than ever that board-superintendent teams function at peak effectiveness. This requires afffirmative efforts on the part of the board and superintendent to regularly assess the ways in which they are effective, as well as the ways in which they can improve their effectiveness. School Leadership can provide training activities which will yield insights into the team's leadership strengths through a self-assessment on fifteen proven indicators of school board effectiveness. Then the team will be helped to develop short and long term goals for improved performance.
